Say it? Sakurai Masahiro’s advice on wiping negative emotions and a clearer direction

First there is Sakurai’s advice on motivation and then there’s the Power of Suggestion, all of them mental inhibitors and stimulus.

This video is not that different. What you think, and especially when you say what you think outloud, it may feel a bit more true.

“Life’s not fun” “I don’t want to work anymore.” How about “I’m in a good mood?” or “My work has purpose!” Do you feel different surges in your body? Of course, he doesn’t want you to say something outrageous like “It’ll rain tomorrow”.

What he’s getting at is to “change your attitude”. Make it meaningful. He also states that a negative outlook may prove a greater opportunity for change. In other words, how to improve on that negative outlook?

“How to make life fun?”

“How can I make my work better?”

Getting psyched at a challenge.

1988’s Aleste (アレスタ) series has a recent revival

The company Compile, which brought about this shooting series, went bankrupt in 2004, but the rights were given to M2 Co LTD. There were strong ties to SEGA, thus why the games are ported to home consoles and even the recent Game Gear Micro. Not just STG games gave Compile a name, but also the Puyo Puyo series. In this day and age, M2 co LTD, through the M2 Shot Triggers project, aim for a revival for various old school games.

In the case of Aleste, there is the Aleste Collection and a new title in the works, ALESTE BRANCH. This series features various female pilots.

    World Baseball Softball Confederation (OFFICIAL)

Following the success of the Olympic Virtual Series in 2021, where baseball was a huge hit, the WBSC and KONAMI are partnering once again to feature WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS in the Olympic Esports Series 2023.

Let me first say: THIS GAME DOES NOT HAVE MICRO TRANSACTIONS!

I don’t have a sports category since I rarely talk about it so I’ll put it under “TV and Movies” for now.

I wanted to grab a few games to take into the new year.

POWER PROS was under a dollar (99 cents in fact) and I took a chance; I’ve seen videos of it (connected to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC’s) global competition) and I was surprised at how cute it was and that it had an esports platform. While football (soccer) and baseball are the most witnessed sports in Japan, it shakes a memory for me. I watched more basketball and maybe martial arts than the previously mentioned, but when it came to games, I believe I played virtually everything with the exception of football games. Hockey and baseball were definitely my favorites; recently, I played Volleyball on my NSO [Nintendo Switch Online] recently and I was surprised at how simple and fun it was.

POWER PROS has the same concept–simple and fun–which surprised me (in contrast to the heavy learning curve of my new Nobunaga’s Ambition). I think I ended up reaching this game because I purchased the Castlevania Collection (KONAMI). Not only did it shake memory of me being interested in sports and sports games, I gradually re-learn the rules and terms of baseball. “What does 2B, MR, APT, CP, and OF mean? Okay..off-field, catcher, 1st base, pitcher, batter, shortstop, field vs catching; this character is left handed”. There are even coaches for hitting, pitching, etc. I am not good with abbreviations. Thinking about BLUE LOCK, Ego spoke about how Japan does well in Baseball (in a demeaning way) because of the “structure”: The Japanese are assigned to “fixed roles”. Still, I have a few problems: I have to learn how to customize my teams, the innings are long (obviously) and I practice more than I play.

This game still requires patience due to a means of having strategy and the demand to play. The character status are easy to read and have their own qualities and skillsets such as running strength, throw strength, stamina, left or right hand, etc. The full game innings reminds me of a past long gone. Left behind. Because I am busy, grown old and play less games (I’d say maybe an hour average a day? Sometimes I’m lucky and play more). I almost find it strenuous to prep for a game and to get through ten innings. I thought I could modify it? One day may be just practicing the swinging and battling, or just playing through the options. That is just me. I want to do more but maybe I have to wait for a full refreshing day off. Usually, all perspectives and circumstances of other players are different. If you’re interested in sports and/or baseball, and are patient, I suggest checking it out!

SO far, a girl like me who isn’t fuily invested into sports but had memories unlocked and wanted to play and learn, what will it do for another?

    • This is it. In about 11 hours, it’ll be 2024 and I am probably going to be at work or coming home from work. I wanted to have a little wine, but for the past two days, I stopped myself from late night eating. Mind you reader, I found this a growing bad habit.

For 2024, I hope to have a new website name/domain. A new direction. I wanted to try a new site but I’m not sure how the importing works so that makes me a little nervous.

      October
In October, I purchased the 1st volume of 2919’s Lodoss Crown of Covenant (ロードス島戦記 誓約の宝冠), released in English, and apparently, it may be connected to a new arc of Lodoss past far the Demon Wars. The topic of October were reduced, being under twenty posts. It’s mostly reposts and videos, perhaps I had a gap of ideas or was busy. I did begin a new “series” called Library Appeal as I make it a goal to cover the books I’ve obtained. My interest has ever increased and I don’t want to forget what I touched and looked into as I summarize I did nine entries so far. A few is the Yoga Manual, Tales of Brothers Grimm, Business Writer’s Manual. I recommend reading for AT LEAST 20-30 minutes a day.

As a game enthusiast, this is easily one of my favorite videos and I recommend it to other games, especially if you’re interested in retro gmaes or their history. November
My first ten entries: Library Appeal List #1
After posting Library Appeal, I returned to reviewing Saintia Sho And Adventures of Flute! There was hardly any entries but I was happy. Maybe it was around here that I had thought of my writing direction.

I got charmed and then upset because media is dangerous: Super Mario Bros Wonder is a bit disappointing. I like to follow the words and postulations of why directors like Sakurai Masahiro make games, which is “to have fun” (and have balance). Wonder will be considered a “fun game” or a “fantasic game” because that is what the legacy game media, Content Creators, and awards say. They have the tectonic ability to push things out in any light. Broken into roles–directors, playwriters, etc.–a production must function together. Everyone will say the visuals are great, the music and sound, the cast or Staff, etc. It’s usually that. But I look for gameplay overall and my synergy with gameplay. I might find a near “perfect game” but maybe my definition to that is very personal and the meaning may mean “a near perfect game” or “perfect/tweaked in some parts”. If a colorful game like Wonder has a happy-clappy soundtrack, then it feels like it can’t go wrong.

I am deeply inspired by the students of HAL Nagoya college, specially in 3D animation, who created Hatenoissen EP Zero. I will absolutely support them in future endeavors. Since Sept 11, 2023, it was viewed over 3 million times.

      December
There is a ton of entries here because I began KYOUKAI SENKI (The Boundary Wars) and started reviewing and looking deeply into the series (see Review List | Kyoukai Senki Season 1 (境界戦機))! As a matter of fact, a lot of December is covered by mecha-related topics such as I found Mecha/Super Robot Novels #1 and Robot novel and animation VAPOR TRAIL. Of course there’s the reports and videos.

Since October, I watched two driving shows: OVERTAKE! and MF Ghost.

Biggest influences in your life. This was a daily prompt, but it was something I had trouble with. After extra thought, I told myself that I was lazy. I have forgotten good ideas; I had nightmares of the past and family members, and I think that made me realize that I deliberately tucked things away and shunned surroundings that could’ve helped me developed. But all was not lost. A lot, but not all.

Yesterday or the day before, I saw a few questions—What was the first theater play you’ve seen? Been in? Can you name a child/youth accomplishment? Everything froze. All I know is that “it happened” but I can’t remember specifics.

This is why reading and writing is important.

I end with a quote that I’ve seen recently:

“We learn 10% of what we READ; 20% of what we HEAR; 30% of what we SEE; 50% of what we SEE and HEAR; 70% of what we SAY; 90% of what we SAY and DO.”
